Breakfast Workshop Hosted by BC Construction Safety Alliance
Pain in construction is often worn like a badge of honour but left unaddressed, it becomes a quiet risk to both safety and well being. In this session, Dr. Shahana brings a grounded and practical lens to how physical pain shows up on the job site, how it is currently being managed, and where we are missing the mark.
We will explore the hidden traps that many workers and leaders fall into including pushing through injury, normalizing discomfort, and relying on short term fixes that can lead to longer term consequences. This includes an honest conversation about the connection between chronic pain, mental health, and the increased risk of addictive behaviours.
This is not about eliminating hard work. It is about building awareness, shifting culture, and understanding that revention is not weakness, it is strategy. Together, we will look at what needs to change at both the individual and leadership level to create safer, more sustainable work environments where people can perform at their best without sacrificing their health.

In recognition of her impact, she has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 YWCA Women of Distinction Award.

She has also contributed to global mental health initiatives, volunteering her time to support communities in developing nations like Nepal.
