Description:

The Safety Specialist – Safety on the Road program plays a critical role in delivering hands-on construction safety
awareness demonstrations across British Columbia and in promoting BCCSA’s wider array of services. This position
requires a safety professional with strong communication skills to engage with audiences during safety awareness
demonstrations, combined with a skilled driver with experience handling large vehicles and towing a trailer.


The following services will be provided by the Safety Specialist:
Safety Demonstrations & Education, Engagement & Outreach
• Represent BCCSA and the Safety on the Road program at scheduled locations.
• Build relationships with regional employers, industry leaders, and educators to promote the Safety on the
Road program.
• Conduct live safety awareness demonstrations at trade shows, public locations, schools, job sites and other
areas where construction workers gather.
• Collaborate with the broader BCCSA team to schedule locations and manage logistics.
• Gather feedback from event participants and provide insights to improve the program.
• Engage with workers, students, and industry professionals to promote BCCSA’s array of programs, and
connect employers and workers to BCCSA staff as required.
• Work with BCCSA’s Regional Safety Advisors to coordinate and/or lead toolbox talks, worksite safety
discussions, and safety training.


Equipment & Setup
• Perform setup and breakdown of all demonstration equipment following BCCSA policies and guidelines.
• Operate and maintain demonstration equipment.
• Troubleshoot minor technical issues with equipment as needed.
• Maintain inventory of safety equipment and promotional materials.


Driving & Logistics
• Safely operate and transport the Safety on the Road demonstration trailer across BC, including urban, rural,
and mountainous regions.
• Ensure proper vehicle and trailer maintenance, coordinating service appointments as needed.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the truck and trailer meet all safety and regulatory
standards.
• Secure storage for the trailer and truck when not in use.
• Follow all provincial and federal transportation regulations.
