Mental Health/ Bill 14
On May 31, 2012, the B.C. Legislature passed Bill 14, the Workers Compensation Amendment Act, 2011. Bill 14 amends section 5.1 of the Workers Compensation Act, changing coverage for mental disorders caused by work.
Bullying and Harassment
New WorkSafeBC bullying and harassment policies to clarify the obligations of employers, workers and supervisors as to workplace bullying and harassment. These policies will take effect November 1, 2013.

Overview Mental Health
The World Health Organization estimates that by 2020 depression will become the second most important cause of disability in the world. Whatever the causes of increased mental illness, the reality is that it has become so common that people at work will inevitably have to deal with it in themselves, in their superiors or in those who report to them.
Line managers and colleagues in the front line can make the biggest difference in the field of mental health at work. Reacting appropriately to signs of distress, maintaining contact with people who may be plumbing the depths of despair and constructing practical return to work plans for those recovering from mental illness are the simple things that can prove job saving and, sometimes, even lifesaving.
