This course offers the flexibility of being taken online (eLearning) or in-person (Classroom). The dates and times for in-person classroom sessions are listed in the TCP Gateway's Course Schedule.

TCPs are eligible to renew anytime they hold a valid BCCSA TCP card or up to one year post expiry.

  • Roles, responsibilities & regulations
  • Physical & mental requirements
  • Job Planning
  • Temporary traffic control devices
  • Work zones
  • Mobile equipment
  • Communication
  • Other traffic control scenarios

Online Renewal Course Details
  • The eLearning option consists of 8 units in total, designed around specific learning objectives. Each unit begins with a list of objectives. In each unit, you will read the content and complete activities. There is a review quiz at the end of each unit.
  • You have a 30-day timeframe to complete this online course.
  • The exam is not open book, and you will have 1 hour to finish it.
  • You have only one attempt to take the exam.
  • While it's estimated to take approximately 6 to 8 hours to complete the entire course, this duration is flexible. This course allows you to start and stop as needed. Your progress is automatically saved. This online format is intended to accommodate learners who cannot commit to a 1-day in-person classroom session. However, please note that you have only 30 days to complete the course.
  • To obtain a new TCP qualification, you must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the written exam and maintain zero violations in the proctor monitoring system, Integrity Advocate. If you don't pass on your first attempt, there's a cooldown period of 5 days before you can retake the course. If unsuccessful on your second attempt, it's recommended to take the two-day course.
